This course provides foundation knowledge and practical skills for first aiders in workplaces with 50 or more employees, in higher risk workplaces (such as engineering, manufacturing, warehousing, construction etc) and workplaces that deal with underlying conditions (such as diabetes, heart issues, high blood pressure etc). It is compliant with Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations.
It is strongly recommended by the HSE that candidates undergo an annual refresher in the years before FAW requalification is required in order to keep skills updated.
The candidate must already hold a current and in-date First Aid at Work Qualification and the original certificate MUST be brought on the first day of the course. Candidates will refresh the practical skills they learnt through their initial
training and be updated on any guideline/procedure changes. This course is suitable for anyone who is a nominated First Aider.
Candidates should have a positive attitude, be responsible, have an aptitude to help, be able to think clearly in times of need, be willing and able to learn new skills, be physically able to deal with demanding emergency situations and have good communication skills.

Candidates will be continually assessed alongside a practical test. A multi-choice question paper must be passed to achieve the award. This qualification lasts for 3 years.
All candidates will receive a course book and a certificate on completion. The course involves scenario based role play activities so candidates should dress appropriately. We should be notified in advance of any movement/bending problems so we adapt planned activities. But please be aware that candidates should be physically able to participate, as non-participation may prevent candidates from being awarded a pass.
